18th November 2009, Trafalgar Square, London. Around 1,000 Algerian football supporters stormed London's Trafalfar Square after Algeria beat Egypt 1-0 in 2010 World Cup Qualifiers. This win means Algeria has qualified for the World Cup for the first time in 23 years.


Chuffed supporters were setting off fireworks from the crowd.




Algerian celebrations in London were peaceful as opposed to the situation in Cairo and Algeria. In Algeria 14 people were killed and 250 injured. Read the full story HERE. Is football worth it?
As I was leaving at 11.30pm, Trafalgar Square was still in a full swing of Algerian celebrations.

  1. I don't think the number of people who died is true.According to Ewatan an Algerian newspaper just one person died and it didn't happen in Algiers.Lovely pictures, I was there. Do you know that we won against the fifa.
